Someday My Prince Will Come…

Waiting is such a hard thing to do! In all of my favorite chick flicks the girl finds her true love in the first twenty minutes. Why can’t life be as perfect as a movie? We mostly find frogs and only dream of the day we will find our “prince charming.” During high school we should be focused on having fun with our friends, doing well in school, and honoring God with our lives. We shouldn’t’t be so tied up in having a boyfriend. Why would you want to waste your time dating a bunch of frogs if you could completely save your heart for your prince? In this season of my life, God has told me to wait. Waiting isn’t particularly my favorite word. I am a go-getter. I like to get things done and then check it off my “to do” list. When I hear the word wait I stop dead in my tracks and think, “Whoa! I do not have time to wait! I have a schedule to keep and my clock says I need to find my prince now!” Well, God has indeed sat me down and said, “Emily, I have the perfect man for you, but you need to wait for my timing. “ I have decided to wait for God to reveal to me who my prince is. God tells us in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” In my time of waiting I have been able to completely map out my standards and the qualities I am looking for in a guy. I want to save myself completely for my future husband. I am choosing to not date in high school because I don’t want to go through the pain of not waiting for God’s best. I have also decided to save my first kiss for my wedding day. I don’t want any part of myself to be attached to anyone other than my husband. I am writing letters to my future husband and I save them in a special box. Then on our wedding day I will have years worth of love letters to him. I want him to realize the importance of what I have saved just for him—all of my love. I am also praying for his purity as well as for mine.
