Sometimes it feels like life is one gigantic roller coaster–a ride of ups and downs; a daring adventure that leads you into the unknown. One minute you are flying high, seeing the top of the mountain in sight, but the next minute you peer over your safety belt are realize you are about to drop–and who knows just how far down?
It today’s culture, knowing who you are is important–OK, really important! People like to walk around with an air of confidence (this is superficial confidence by the way!) saying “Yes, I am too important for you” or “Just who do you think you are?” Sometimes finding who you are isn’t an easy process either. It is easy to morph yourself into the culture’s norm, but that doesn’t lead to true satisfaction. So how in the world do you become yourself?
James 4:10 says, “Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet.” The only way you can find yourself is by getting on your knees before Jesus and allowing Him to take you by the hand and lift you up. So many people think that true self-discovery is all about you–number one. But that isn’t the case. To find yourself, you must find Jesus Christ. He is the only One who can show you who you are. Life is not and will never be about you. Sound harsh? It’s the truth. Jesus Christ did not die for you to walk around and pretend like you have it all together. He died so that you and I could have a personal relationship with Him and radiate His love to others.
The only way you can become yourself is by beginning with Jesus. Get on your knees before Him. He will show you the way to go. He will guide you towards your passions and plans for the future. He will lead you to prince charming. He will never fail you. He is holding your hand every single step of the way.
