Inauguration of the 44th President of the United States of America

Share Article

Today marked a new day in history. Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America. As our new first family prepared for today’s inaugural events, literally millions packed into Washington, D.C. to be a part of this monumental day. Countless others crammed around TVs to take part in the festivities and to hear what our new President had to say.

Today was also a bittersweet day in history. For the many in my generation, Former President Bush is really the only president that we have known in our lifetime. It was exciting being a part of such a historic inauguration, but it was also sad to see someone who has cared so much about our country go home. Thank you President Bush for your dedicated service to the United States of America. May God richly bless you for your service in keeping us safe.

Let us all remember to pray for our new President and his family. God has called us to respect those in authority over us. God did not say to respect only those in your political party or those that you want to succeed. God tells us to respect everyone in authority over us. President Obama has one of the most (if not the most) powerful positions in the world. He can make a difference and I pray that he will succeed.

God, I thank you for President Obama and his family–his wife Michelle and their two daughters Malia and Sasha. Lord Jesus please bless them today and increase their coasts. Keep your hedge of protection around them and keep all evil from them so that they would not be grieved. Give President Obama direction, wisdom, and guidance as he leads our nation. I love you Jesus. Thank you. Amen.
