One of my goals, my prayers, is to spread love wherever I go.
Sometimes that love is accepted, sometimes criticized, and sometimes not accepted at all, but my responsibility lies in the giving…not in whether someone accepts it or not.
This role of giving stems from Romans 12:18 where we’re challenged to live at peace with everyone as far as it depends on us: “Don’t hit back; discover beauty ineveryone. If you’ve got it in you, get along with everybody. Don’t insist on getting even; that’s not for you to do. ‘I’ll do the judging,’ says God. ‘I’ll take care of it.'” I’m learning that living a life of love is a whole lot more about the act of giving it…giving out of the overflow of who you are, rather than expecting something conditional in return. There’s no freedom found in love that comes with a price tag.
I may not be able to guarantee that everyone who comes to me will leave happy…because that choice is theirs alone. But I can guarantee that I’m going to spread love like confetti and give it wherever I go…because I’m loving from who I am…if I were to choose not to, I wouldn’t be true to the Emily God has made me to be. Today, let’s spread love wherever we go!
