The Reason for the Season

Share Article

Christmas is such an exciting time of year—it is a time to celebrate with family and friends, exchange gifts, eat delicious cookies, and sing many carols. However, among all of the excitement, it is easy to miss the true meaning of Christmas.

God sent His one and only Son into the world because He loved you and me so much. Jesus was born in an filthy inn in Bethlehem. He came into this world during the holiday we celebrate as “Christmas” to grow up and die for you and for me. There is no way that we can ever make it to Heaven on our own—the only way to Heaven and eternity with God is through a mediator and that mediator is Jesus Christ. His life didn’t end at death. Jesus rose back to life three days later. Talk about miraculous (I sure haven’t seen that before!).

Believing in Jesus requires a decision. We make decisions all the time from what to wear to what college to attend. This is a decision to have a relationship with Jesus. Salvation is God’s gift to us. On Christmas morning when someone hands you a gift you are going to rip it open, right? You would never say, “Well, I don’t think I want your gift. Thanks, but no thanks.” You will tear through the wrapping paper and enjoy your new treasure. A relationship with Jesus is a gift. He is waiting for you to accept Him and ask Him into your life. He can lead and guide you through all of life’s ups and downs. Trust Him. All that He requires is your heart. Jesus is the reason for the season and you can know Him personally. All you have to do is ask. He is ready, are you?

“For God so loved the world, that he gave His one and only Son. That whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
John 3:16
