10 Verses For Walking Rooted In Peace

Share Article

For the past few years, I have picked a “word for the year”… a word to focus on and grow in. My word for 2018 was peace… and in this season, I’m re-visiting some of the truths I learned studying this word. Interestingly, the definition for peace is “freedom from disturbance; calm”. Did you catch that? Peace is not being free of disturbance, but rather being free from it. When my feet—my foundation—are fitted with peace, I am planted and rooted in peace… Disturbance will come, but I can be free from it.

The following 10 verses are truths I’m hanging onto and applying in my becoming story for walking rooted in peace:

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” Ephesians 6:14-15

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:15

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:26-27

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” Isaiah 26:3

“The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.” Psalm 29:11

“Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.” James 3:18

“Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.” 2 Corinthians 13:11

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
