Trying New Things & Surrendering to God’s Best Plan

 In Emily Cummins

I’m a planner. Your classic Type A, Enneagram 1 planner. I plan out my meals, my schedule, my goals & dreams, my outfits… I plan. Stepping into things where I can’t see the outcome aren’t always my favorite. They can feel scary & uncomfortable. But I’m learning, here in this season, that I can trust the One who does know the outcome. ⠀

I’m learning the sweet kind of trust in Jesus that looks like full blown surrender… surrender of the plan, the control, the dreams, surrender of the future. I recently heard Annie F. Downs share her processing the one thing she wants to come out of quarantine with—knowing Jesus better! THAT’S the one plan I am making… surrendering everything & falling more in love with Jesus.⠀

Yeah, surrendering all the things to God & trusting Him with them feels scary. But it also feels FREE. I’m learning I would so much rather trust my unknown future to my God who knows me best. ??⠀

So, I’m learning this rhythm & dance & daily surrendering my plan for His best plan… who I BECOME in the process. It’s never really been about what’s at the ‘end’ of the plan anyways, but about who I’m becoming along the way.⠀

So, to all my fellow planners out there, hear this from the bottom of my heart: it’s ok to try new things without knowing what the outcome looks like. It’s ok to try & fall & get up again. It’s ok to stumble & be nervous. It. Is. Ok. Surrender it all to God who SEES you & has BEST for you. You may not see the outcome, but He sure does! Trust Him with each & every step! He’s got you!⠀

“Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” 1Peter‬ ‭5:7‬⠀

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11-13‬ ⠀

Thanks @morganharpernichols for this beautiful graphic reminder of this truth! ⠀

Warrior friends, drop a ? if you’re ditching the plan & surrendering to trusting His best plan.
